The Bowness Community Association was established in 1963. In 2007 the Bowness Community Association was revitalized with a new team of dedicated residents, developing a new vision for the Bowness Community Association.

A volunteer Board of Directors, passionate staff, and countless members and volunteers contribute to the work of the BCA in the community. 

Why do we do this?

  1. To build a strong, resilient neighbourhood. 
  2. To create a sense of belonging and build community connections.
  3. To increase community leadership & build resident capacity
  4. To support inclusivity & equity in the community 
  5. To Improve the feeling of community safety

The Bowness Community Association is registered with the Alberta Societies Act and is governed by:

BCA Highlights

Community Hubs Initiative
Events and Volunteers
  •  We host dozens of annual community events with the help of hundreds of volunteers and dozens of supporting businesses.  
  • Events include Run Bowness, the Holiday Dinner, the Holiday Craft Fair, Movie in the Park, Halloween Jellybean Dance, and many more.
Facility and Operations
Communications
  • We produce the Bowest’ner, a community magazine made possible by a team of volunteers, staff, and supporting businesses. 
  • We maintain our website, events calendar, social media channels, and email newsletter to help inform the community about opportunities to connect and engage with the BCA 
  • We have stepped in to provide crisis communications in response to major events affecting the community such as the 2013 flood and the 2024 water main break.
