Local Volunteers and Businesses Make for a Spring Cleanup Success

This year’s Spring Cleanup was a smashing success thanks to an incredible turnout of volunteers and businesses working together to provide this valuable service to the community!

Helpers began arriving at the crack of dawn to set out cones, build tents, brew coffee, and manage the vehicle lineup of early bird residents who were first in line. After a volunteer briefing by our fearless volunteer coordinator Laddie, our crew of helpers split up to coordinate traffic, sort and unload junk, and drive around the community picking up items from folks without a way to bring it to the BCA. It was a hard-working day, but our volunteers enjoyed plenty of smiles, snacks, and connections with community members. Want to join the fun as a BCA volunteer? Check out our Event Volunteering page for all of our upcoming events requiring volunteers.

In addition to volunteers, some great local organizations pitched in to make this Saturday’s Spring Cleanup a success. The City of Calgary brought packer trucks, Bowest Appliances and Technotrash Alberta Ltd provided appliance and tech recycling, Bowness Legion #238 and Cerebral Palsy Alberta helped recover used items for donations, Simon House Recovery Centre brought a van full of volunteers, Village Honda helped pick up items from around the community, and 7-11 kept all of our volunteers well fed throughout the day!

You rock Bowness!
