About Community Hubs

at the Bowness Community Association

The Bowness Community Association is proud to be one of just six Community Hubs in Calgary, part of a city-wide initiative that brings neighbours together and strengthens local communities through connection, support, and shared spaces.

Community Hubs are welcoming, inclusive places where people can gather, build relationships, and access the supports they need. Whether it’s joining a workshop, meeting new friends, or finding resources in times of need, the Hub is designed to help residents feel more connected and supported in everyday life.

This initiative is a partnership between The City of Calgary and the United Way of Calgary and Area, with the Rotary Clubs of Calgary as a founding partner. Together, they support neighbourhood-based spaces that respond directly to local needs and reflect the strengths of the communities they serve.

At its core, the Community Hubs model recognizes that strong social connections matter. When people know their neighbours and have trusted relationships to rely on, communities become healthier, safer, and more resilient.

What makes a Community Hub?

A Community Hub is a space that:

  • Meets many different community needs
  • Is open and welcoming to everyone
  • Is created by the community, for the community
  • Serves more than one purpose
  • Helps strengthen the neighbourhood it belongs to

Community Hubs can take many forms—from drop-in programs and workshops to informal gatherings like gardening groups or skill-sharing sessions. What they all share is a focus on connection, accessibility, and community-driven action.

At the BCA Hub, we’re proud to support opportunities that bring people together, reduce isolation, and build a stronger Bowness.

Who runs the Bowness Community Hub?
